As a cadet here at miami beach senior high, maintaining a degree of superiority and excellence is of the most importance. You will be requiered to uphold a high standard of military bearing as wll as appearence, and maintain a grade of neatness higher than the average student population, helping enhance the spirit de corps and building pride upon the unit.

Each cadet is respossible for knowing and following the standards of grooming and uniform wear established here, and by the Cheif of Naval Education and Trainin in the currant eddition of the Cadet Feild Manual. Since this chapter provides some special rules that are observed at Miami Beach Sr. High, it should be followed in the event of disagreement with the cadet feild manual.

As a follower or leader, listening is a must. Do keep an open mind. Do listen to understand Not to argue or challenge. Do listen to what the speaker is saying Not how well the speaker says it. Do make and hold eye contact. Keep feelings positive, listen to new ideas and give credit where credit is due.

Order to the Sentry

Take charge of this post and all government property in view
Walk my post in a military manner, keeping always on the alert, and observing everything that takes place within sight or hearing
Report all violations of orders I am instructed to enforce
Repeat all calls from post more distant than the guardhouse or the quaterdeck then my own
Quit my post only when properly relieved
Receive, obey, and pass on to the sentry who relieves me, all orders from the Commanding Officer, Command Duty Officer, Officer of the Day, Officer of the Deck, and all Officers and Petty Officers, of the watch only
Talk to no one except in the line of duty
Give the alarm in case of fire or disorder
Call the Coporal of the Guard or Officer of the Deck in any case not covered by instruction
Salute all officers, colors, and standards not cased
Be especially watchful at night, and in the time of challenging, challenge all personnel on or near my post, and to allow no one to pass without proper authority

Tip: When answering a question pertaining to the Orders to the Sentry a cadet is to repeat the question and then give the answer. Example: Executive Officer: "Cadet what is the 1st Order to the Sentry?" Cadet: "Sir, the 1st Order to the Sentry is take charge of this post and all government property in view."
